Jazzie stayed over and Nan and Grandad's house yesterday, so I got to have Mum and Dad all to myself. It was SO nice! Mummy and I went shopping at Camberwell Market together where I drank a whole smoothie by myself - I didn't have to share any at all. I helped Mum pick out some vegies and fruit before we headed off to Target to get me some more clothes. I searched for some 'Credibles pyjamas while Mum looked for singlets and skivvies for me. I couldn't find any pyjamas, but I did get some new jeans. It was so nice being able to walk around with Mum and to hold her hand whenever I liked. After shopping, we went to Oliver's house to see my friends. I was a bit shy at first, but soon warmed up when I saw that they were playing my favourite game: roaring monsters! We stalked about on all-fours roaring at each other and bumping each other before the Mummies decided that they didn't want us doing that anymore. So we all played a bit of cricket, which was great fun even though I didn't hit the ball once. Some of the other boys were so good at hitting the ball. I really had a great time and was pleased to see my friends, because I haven't seen them for ages. The next morning I still had Mum and Dad to myself - woo! We all went out for brekkie to a little place we hadn't been to before: Replete in Hawthorn. I got a bit stroppy when Daddy wouldn't get me my own plate of toast along with my smoothie; he expected me to share his pancakes! I refused to eat the pancake he offered and had about half of my smoothie before staging the rest of my protest under the table. I was dragged out of the cafe feeling just a bit empty. But I soon forgot about that because Mum and I then went to the Zoo! We had just the best time in the world. I wanted to see my favourite animals, the seals, first, which we did. I watched as three seals glided past us while they were spinning in circles or swimming upside down. It looked like such fun. After spending a couple of minutes at the seals we set off to see as many animals as possible in as shorter space of time possible. We ran in between each exhibit, looked at the animals for a few seconds, then took off again to the next one. I was so happy that Mum was happy to run with me. We sure couldn't do that the last time we came with Jazzie. Mum tried to slow me down a bit by pointing out animals and birds that I hadn't noticed, like the owls and the rock wobbilies. I spent the longest time watching the efalents because every other time we've been the efalents have been hiding. This time there were two of them right up close to everyone and they were eating something that looked like a huge, round brick. They were picking up this thing with their trunks and throwing it on the ground to break it open, then they picked up the pieces and ate them! I must have watched them for three or four minutes, it was so interesting. The other place that I slowed down for was to look at the birds in the aviary, because Mum really likes the birds. There were some really colourful, big birds in there. After two hours I was happy to leave and had a nice little doze in the car on the way home. I loved having Mum and Dad to myself. Today I get to have Nan and Grandad to myself, because I'm going over there without Jazzie. This is very nice for a change! Wednesday, May 18, 2005
I've been so happy and so angry over the last month. I don't know why. I love it when I'm playing with Mum and Jaz and Dad and we're at the park or sticking and drawing or squashing playdough or at the computer. But then something changes, usually Mum telling me not to do something, and I get so angry. I throw things and slam the doors and lie on the ground and cry and yell a lot. Yesterday I got really cross with Mum because she was so mean. She wouldn't let me have a chocolate chip cookie until after lunch - I couldn't believe it. I glared at her and yelled, 'Mum, I would put you in the rubbish bin when you die!' Today she wanted me to eat more dinner, but I refused. I stomped off and told her, 'I'm NOT your friend!' Last week I actually hit her when she wanted me to sit at the dinner table with everyone else. I ran up to her and whacked her on the back and then burst into tears - I was so terrified. She looked like she might pick me up and throw me like Mr Incredible does to Elastigirl, but instead she took me to my room and told me she needed to think about it. I guess she's still thinking about it, but I haven't hit her again; I'll stick to yelling, that's safer. There are two things that I'm really happy about. First is that I've started riding my big bike. I got it at Christmas when I rode it once and decided that I wouldn't ride it again. I've been riding my little bike since and loving it. But I kept looking at my big bike each time we got in the car. I sat on it a few times and rang the bell. It didn't seem as big as I thought it was at Christmas. On Monday we got home from kinder and I decided I wanted to ride it. I hopped on and set off riding up the street. Mum and Dad both helped me a little bit, but I didn't need much help, really. It's much harder to pedal on this bike, but I'm going to keep trying. Yesterday and today I rode over the road on the oval. I needed Dad to help push me on the grass, but I was really pleased with myself. The other thing I'm happy about is swimming. Last month I was a bit scared of going under water. Now I can do it easily and love it! My teacher told me to take a big breath before going under water, and when I did that it was much better. Now I can pick up toys off the bottom of the pool, not just the steps. I even ducked under by myself when the teacher was with the other boy and picked up a weed! I'm also better at jumping off the side of the pool into the water. I still want to bend my knees down really low before jumping, but I can do it and don't mind the splashes so much anymore. I especially like going to the bakery on the way home to buy a chocolate chip cookie. As long as Mum lets me eat it, that is!
