Mum came home from the hairdresser last week and her hair was really different. I asked, 'Mum, what you got funny hair?' She said, 'don't you think it looks nice?' and I replied, 'No, get your nice hair back again', and tried to pat it back to shape. It didn't work, but I'm getting used to it. Also last week, Mum, Jasmine and I all had naps at the same time. I woke before Mum and went bounding in to her. She was all dozy and slow so I looked at her earnestly and told her, 'Mum, we gotta get some coffee into you!' For some reason Mummy has been less grumpy this week. Which is weird because Daddy is away and she usually gets more grumpy when he's away. I've been waking up at my usual time in the mornings, between five and five-thirty (once I slept in until nearly 6am!) and going in to Mum. But instead of grumping at me to go back to bed she gets up and comes to my room with me and we put on some special morning music on my CD player. I hop back into bed and listen to my music and we both pretend that I might go back to sleep. After a little while Mum goes back to bed and I listen to my music and have a quiet play before going back to Mum closer to 6am. Then I get to stay in the room with her until Jazzie wakes up. But the amazing thing is that she doesn't seem to be grumpy. I like it! Today I had my first shower alone without Mum or Dad. Jazzie was in there too but she doesn't count. Mum has asked me lots of times whether I want a shower alone and I've always said, 'NO!' but this time she tricked me into it. Jazzie and I got in together but I didn't notice that Mum hadn't got undressed. I got into the bucket for a play and giggled under the water spray and then realised that Mum wasn't in there too. I nearly got out but decided to stay. It was fun. But after a while Jazzie got out and there was no way I was staying in there alone so I shrieked for Mum to turn off the taps and I hopped out as well. Mum was pretty happy that she didn't have to get in as well I think. Other things I've been doing that have made Mummy smile are eating my dinner, being nice to Jasmine, stroking and kissing Mummy on the cheek, having a pee straight before bedtime and letting Mum brush my teeth without fuss. I do like making Mum smile. Friday, October 08, 2004
'Mum, I got two testcles, you got none, Jazzie's got none, Daddy's got five tesicles!' Monday, October 04, 2004
I was eating dinner last night, or, I should say, I was picking at my dinner last night when I decided to try a new tactic. I mumbled, 'Dad, I want some better food'. Mum looked at me and said, 'Whaaaaat did you say?' so I giggled and repeated, 'Dad, I want some better food!' Dad yelled, 'WHAT??' and I replied, 'Please? ... Let's go!' I thought it was pretty funny although I didn't get any better food, the meanies. Today I've had a great day. I went to Bethany's birthday party at Hocus Pocus Puppets and it was such fun. It was fancy dress so I went as Superman. We watched some funny puppets, danced around, caught bubbles, played limbo and played pass-the-dragon. I ate some fairy bread and cake and danced some more. Everyone won some toys - I came home with a super ball, a little fold-up plane and some glasses with a nose and moustache to wear. Then I had a bit of time with Grampa before going off to vote with Daddy and then meeting Mum and Jaz in the supermarket. After picking at my dinner again, Mum, Jazzie and I went over to the park with some tennis balls and a cricket bat. We threw, rolled and bowled the ball to each other and tried to hit it with the bat. We chased each other around and laughed and giggled. I found some magpie feathers, which I picked up to show Jazzie. Then I saw the magpie and wanted to take the feathers back to it, but I couldn't find where we'd left them. I didn't want to go home when Mum said we had to, but eventually we all wandered home again and had a shower together. It's been a fun day. Friday, October 01, 2004
I've been enjoying doing some cooking with Mum and Dad over the last week. This morning I made banana muffins with Daddy; I put the paper liners in the tin while Daddy measured out the ingredients, then I helped crack the egg and did the all-important taste-test once it was all mixed up. Then I put sprinkles on top of each one before they went into the oven. I was so eager to eat one when they came out that I almost burnt my fingers in trying to peel the paper off! A few days ago Mum and I decided to make cheese straws to take to Charlie's house. We discussed it while we all ate fruit at my blue table. I said, 'Mum, arfa dis, we gotta make cheese straws. I'll do de egg, you get de cheese an butter'. Then I thought for a bit and declared, 'We gotta get flour too!! We got flour?' Luckily we did. I poured the flour into the mixer and put in lots of spoonfuls of spices. Then I cracked the egg into a bowl - I didn't spill any - and Mum poured it into the mixer as well. I pressed the button to turn it on and sat waiting for Mum to tell me when to turn it off: 'Now? ...now?...now? okay!' Mum and Dad have been looking a bit tired lately, so I've decided to check every now and then if they're okay. They were eating dinner a few days ago while I was watching The Goodies in the other room, but they were a bit quiet so I opened the door and asked, 'What your doing, guys? You okay?' They were fine and were happy that I asked, so that's good.
